Learning disrupted as six classrooms are hit by windstorm in Garissa
The boarding wing and toilets were also partially destroyed.
Learning at Korakora Boarding Primary School in Garissa was disrupted on Monday after a windstorm blew off the roofs of six classrooms.
County Director of Education Abdihamid Maalim Ali said he got a briefing from the Garissa Township sub-county Director of Education Ali Buthul on the incident.

Abdihamid said the windstorm struck the school destroying six classrooms, a computer laboratory for the Junior Secondary School and solar panels.
He also noted that the boarding wing and toilets were partially destroyed.
Abdihamid said learning was disrupted but efforts were underway for students to resume classes. He said no student was injured.

Speaking to The Eastleigh Voice, a school board member Yussuf Ali said the windstorm left massive destruction that will affect learning for students in primary and Junior secondary.
He appealed to the area MP Dekow Barrow and other elected leaders to urgently intervene to ensure learning resumes.
"Learners will be forced to take classes either inside the roofless classrooms or under the shady trees. As a parent and school board member, I am disturbed by the situation. We request an urgent intervention," said Yussuf.
